Environment

In Mewah Group, environment protection is always part of our business. We strive to preserve and protect mother nature. We deeply appreciate the importance of protecting the environment for our own comfort as well as for the comfort of our next generation. Our commitment is shown in our investment in the modern biological and chemical effluent treatment facility with advance control.

Oil leakage from the plant is fully contained and no escape to the surrounding is possible with our careful drainage plan. Continuous improvement to the effluent plant effectiveness and efficiency is what we believe as a way of life to ensure the lowest effluent discharge.

We always ensure that the effluent discharge is in compliance to Standard B of Environmental Act, where Chemical Oxigen Demand is controlled well below 100 ppm. Zero effluent discharge is our next target to achieve where we will feed back all the treated effluent for our utility use and totally eliminate the discharge of effluent to the surrounding.

Statement on Sustainable Palm Oil
As an active member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), we align our value with the principal objective of the RSPO: ‘to promote the growth and use of sustainable palm oil through co-operation within the supply chain and open dialogue between its stakeholders’. We seek to produce palm oil products in a sustainable manner.

It is vital that the production and the use of palm oil must be done in a sustainable manner based upon economical, social and environmental viability to maintain ecological balance and biodiversity vastness.

While plantations and millers are actively implementing the Principles and Criteria, we, as a refiner/manufacturer, are closely concerning about the use of sustainable palm oil throughout the supply chain. We are at the front line on the development of ‘RSPO Supply Chain Certification Requirements’.  We provided input to improvise the draft of the said Certification Requirements and followed-up closely the timeline for adopting the use of sustainable palm oil sources that are determined mainly by the availability of certified palm oil as well as market demand or acceptance.

We reassure all our customers that our Organization is fully committed to support sustainable palm oil by:
a) Developing and maintaining a effective and efficient traceability system
Traceability system is vital in tracing and capturing the use of sustainable palm oil throughout the supply chain. We can specifically trace from end products to raw material suppliers for each product where data on raw materials, plant utilities, in-process parameters, storage tank parameters and finished products are well-maintained and kept using ERP system. With the effective and efficient traceability system, the volume / ratio of the sustainable palm oil used can be clearly identified and declared accordingly to any claim requirements.

b) Incorporating sustainability criteria as one of the procurement requirements
Sourcing from sustainable suppliers is one of our major requirements in procuring raw materials. We are in partnerships with sustainable suppliers who share the same value and aim to preserve the environment for future generations.
